The GUARD takes a pair of HANDCUFFS off MURRAY.
MURRAY
You said you’d pull your punches.
GUARD
Yeah… I forgot about that.
MURRAY
Oh really!
GUARD
Well you deserve it. Making me deal with his whining for nearly two years.
MURRAY
Oh yeah that!
The GUARD helps MURRAY towards the DOOR of the CELL. WAYSELL tries to crawl after them.
WAYSELL
You know him?! You swore loyalty to me!
MURRAY
You didn’t did you?
I mean there’s going undercover and there’s swearing allegiance to weasel boy here.
GUARD
It was your idea.
WAYSELL
What?
MURRAY
The thing is Waysell is you were never smart enough to understand my theories, neither are you as smart as you think you are.
I knew once we found the dimensional incursion that you would try to take us all in and so myself and my team made contingencies against that fact.
Meet Colonel Phillip Jensen. He works for us.
JENSEN
We’ve got to get going.
MURRAY
Good point, gloating over Waysell’s stupidity can wait till later.
JENSEN supports MURRAY as he limps to the door.
MURRAY
You know where the others are?
JENSEN
The guys are two floors down along with that hacker you picked up and Tinkerbell’s locked up in Waysell’s private quarters.
MURRAY
Private quarters?
Oh, you really are twisted and deluded.
I almost feel sorry for you Waysell.
JENSEN
Almost?
MURRAY
Yeah, only almost.
Lets get out of here.
JENSEN
What about him.
MURRAY
Leave him here. He’s not likely to cause too much trouble grovelling around on the floor.
MURRAY
(Out of Shot)
Private quarters. That’s just plain nasty.
18. INT. WAYSELL’S PRIVATE QUARTERS. DAY
The LIGHTS are OFF inside WAYSELL’S QUARTERS. VOICES can be heard from OUTSIDE INDISTINCT. A shadow moves across the CAMERA.
THE VOICES STOP.
THE DOOR OPENS.
A HAND REACHES FOR THE LIGHT.
The LIGHT goes on and TINKERBELL who is stood next to the door BITES the ARM.
MURRAY SCREAMS.
MURRAY
Ow!!!!
Nadia!
TINKERBELL lets go when she hears the VOICE.
TINKERBELL
Cal?!
MURRAY limps into the ROOM. JENSEN follows him.
MURRAY
Yeah. What gave you that idea.
TINKERBELL
What happened to you?
MURRAY
Jensen took his undercover job, shall we say a little too far.
So you can imagine I’m a little tired of getting injured by my friends.
JENSEN
Look we need to get out of here.
Its only a matter of time before Waysell manages to raise the alarm in some way.
TINKERBELL
What did you do to him.
JENSEN
Shot him.
TINKERBELL
In the groin?
JENSEN
In the leg.
TINKERBELL
One can always dream.
SHE RUNS out of the DOORWAY.
MURRAY and JENSEN exchange a look.
JENSEN
After all the things I’ve faced in life.
She still scares me.
MURRAY
Tell me about it. I’d rather take on the whole Crimson Guard at once than get on the wrong side of her.
Let’s go.
19. INT. CORRIDOR. STAR CHAMBER FACILITY. DAY
TINKERBELL runs down the CORRIDOR. JENSEN supports MURRAY. TINKERBELL throws KNIVES at the legs of any GUARD that appears. THEY reach a DOOR. As they REACH it the DOOR BURSTS open nearly coming off its hinges.
DAVE comes RUNNING OUT.
TINKERBELL JUMPS out the WAY.
DAVE runs at JENSEN and MURRAY.
JACKSON and CASPAR walk out of the MANGLED DOORFRAME.
JENSEN
Dave, calm down.
JACKSON
It’s no use, he’s gone into some sort of berserker rage.
CASPAR
All I can say is from the moment I met him I’ve thought he was unstable.
Definitely a few bytes short of a full gig.
JACKSON
Not helping Caspar.
Dave, calm down. Come on dude.
MURRAY
Dave. Get off me. Is this what Athena would want. Come on man. Calm down, snap out of it.
JACKSON
Hey, Dave. You with us buddy?
CASPAR
Definitely unstable.
DAVE
Shut him up and I’ll be fine.
CASPAR
What, so its my fault, Psycho Dave goes bonkers tries to kill Cal over here and its my fault.
MURRAY
Just leave it, for once, just leave it.
Okay Jensen, you know the way out of here?
JENSEN
Sure. Follow me.
MURRAY
Better make it quick.
GUARDS chase after them.
A MONTAGE OF CORRIDOR SHOTS of OUR HEROES running down CORRIDORS. GUARDS chase them.
THEY FINALLY RUN OUT of a DOOR.
20. EXT. STAR CHAMBER FACILITY. DAY.
They RUN out of the facility. The CAMERA is SHOOTING DOWNWARDS. We HEAR the NOISE OF HELICOPTER BLADES and WIND BLOWS AROUND THEM.
The SCREEN FADES TO WHITE.
21. INT. MOBILE CONTROL CENTRE. DAY.
CAPTION. SOME MONTHS LATER.
SPARKS FLY. THE CAMERA PULLS out. A TECHNICIAN WEARING OVERALLS is working on A WALL PANEL.
MURRAY WALKS along the CORRIDOR talking to ANOTHER TECHNICIAN.
MURRAY.
Okay, I understand that. But we don’t have much choice this unit as to be fully operational in 48 hours or we could be in trouble.
TECHNICIAN
Okay, but its not going to be pretty.
MURRAY
A lack of aesthetic perfection I can deal with.
I just need it to be operational.
TECHNICIAN
Yes sir.
I’ll get right on it.
MURRAY
See that you do.
MURRAY CONTINUES WALKING.
HE REACHES A LIFT.
HE steps into it.
He stands WAITING for the door to CLOSE.
Out of Shot we hear DAVE shouting.
DAVE walks into the lift.
DAVE
He’s driving me crazy.
Why for Arcadia’s sake are we entertaining him?
The DOORS CLOSE.
The lift starts to ASCEND.
MURRAY
Entertaining who?
DAVE
Caspar, who else?
MURRAY
Because I want him on my team.
DAVE
Why? He doesn’t whining, or smart mouthing for a single moment.
MURRAY
Its true that’s he’s about as calming an influence as a dose of laxatives but he’s also the best computer programmer and hacker I’ve ever come across.
DAVE
Why couldn’t we have used Rosa again?
MURRAY
Because she’s retired. She lives in Coventry with a one year old son and a husband called Neville.
When you get married to a guy called Neville you’re settling down for good.
You’re not exactly willing to travel to another dimension to fight the bad guys.
So you got a guy called Caspar instead.
DAVE
That I can understand. But why do I have to train him.
MURRAY
Because you want to get back home.
So you don’t have to put up with guys like Caspar for the rest of your life.
No pain, no gain.
CASPAR is waiting outside.
CASPAR
Dave! Ready for my training?
MURRAY
After you.
CASPAR
I was wondering whether you could teach me Kung Fu.
Or some of the same style of moves you see in Mortal Kombat.
22. INT. MOBILE COMMAND CENTRE CONTROL ROOM. DAY.
CALEB walks out into the CONTROL ROOM.
DAVE and CASPAR walk out of shot DOWN ANOTHER CORRIDOR.
TINKERBELL is at a CONSOLE. JACKSON’S LEGS poke out from UNDERNEATH ANOTHER CONSOLE. MUSIC comes TINNILY from his headphones.
MURRAY
Where are we at?
TINKERBELL
We’re nearly fully supplied.
Jensen and Dave still need to check through the armoury inventory.
And we’ll have full power when Jackson stops slacking off.
She KICKS the CONSOLE. JACKSON pulls himself out from under the CONSOLE.
TINKERBELL GRINS.
TINKERBELL
And Mr. Browning wants you and Jensen to contact him at your earliest possible convience.
MURRAY
Okay, Tell Jensen to meet me in the conference room in ten minutes.
23. INT. MOBILE COMMAND CENTRE CONFERENCE ROOM. DAY.
The CONFERENCE ROOM is a LARGE ROOM with COMPUTER SCREENS HANGING DOWN from the ceiling. COMPUTER SCREENS adorn the walls. The TABLE in the middle of the ROOM can EXPAND and CONTRACT as needed. MUSIC can be heard coming from one of the SCREENS.
JENSEN
Sorry I’m late.
MURRAY
It doesn’t matter, I’m still on hold.
It’s amazing. A secret special operations command and they use the same hold music as a high street bank.
JENSEN
Go figure.
The SCREEN SPARKS into life. BROWNING APPEARS on the SCREEN.
BROWNING
Sorry for the delay.
MURRAY
Not a problem, sir.
Hope it’s nothing serious.
BROWNING
I don’t think so.
But you need to be ready to go soon.
JENSEN
Star Chamber not letting the matter go?
BROWNING
Of course not.
They still have allies among the Security Council Representatives. And they’re still unhappy that your team managed to escape any censure or punishment over this. Also they’re annoyed they didn’t get the task of entering the incursion.
MURRAY
Well that wasn’t exactly likely after they incarcerated us and Waysell attempted to violate Simonova.
BROWNING
Well, he managed to keep his rank and position. He still claims he was only doing his job. And he’s still considering sueing you.
MURRAY
And he still claims he discovered the crossover portals in the first place. He’s a total fantasist.
BROWNING
Which is one of the reasons why you are going through the crossover portal rather than him.
However, you need to be careful. You mess this up even a little bit and you be pulled out of there quicker than you can blink.
JENSEN
This isn’t exactly something we can play around with.
The Crimson Guard haven’t stopped trying to come through.
All the time we’ve been rebuilding we’ve had constant skirmishes.
BROWNING
That’s as maybe. But there are those who still believe you should be sharing a jail cell.
You did abscond with a highly expensive piece of equipment.
And remember you were under suspension after trying to kill my predecessor over his treatment of the previous incursion.
MURRAY
Nearly kill?! That’s a complete exaggeration.
BROWNING
Hardly. You and Dave put him in the hospital.
That didn’t exactly endear you to anyone
The Chinese would rather not be involved. The French would rather the leader of your unit was French. The Americans and the British are our main supporters. Primarily because both incursions occurred on their soil. And the Russians will do anything to prevent Star Chamber from taking control.
But you need to prove you can shut this whole thing down.
MURRAY.
We can, sir.
BROWNING
Oh and one more thing. They don’t want Murray in overall command. So Jensen you’re in charge.
MURRAY
Okay.
JENSEN
No its not okay sir. Its Murray who discovered the portals in the first place. He got the original expedition home and he was spot on when it came to the location of the present incursion.
MURRAY
I was out by fifty metres.
